Riccardo Gorla
السيرة الذاتية
Dr. Riccardo Gorla is an interventional cardiologist at the Clinical, Interventional, and Hemodynamic Cardiology Unit of IRCCS Policlinico San Donato.
In 2011, he graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan. In 2016, he earned a PhD in Experimental and Clinical Physiology from the University of Insubria in Varese, and the following year, he completed his specialization in Cardiology at the same institution.
Dr. Gorla spent two years (2014-2015) in Germany at the West German Heart Centre in Essen, where he completed a clinical and research fellowship in aortic diseases.
From 2017 to 2020, he served as an adjunct professor of Cardiovascular Pathophysiology at the University of Insubria in Varese.
He has performed over 3,000 coronary interventions for peripheral diseases, structural heart diseases involving the aortic valve (TAVI), mitral valve (Mitraclip), and closure of the patent foramen ovale.
Dr. Gorla conducts research on aortic stenosis and TAVI, particularly in applying computational simulation models to study the biomechanical properties of various commercial TAVI valves, helping to guide the selection of the most suitable valve for complex TAVI patients (e.g., bicuspid aortic valve).
He is also involved in research on the use of cardioembolic protection devices and, more broadly, on stroke prevention in TAVI patients.
Dr. Gorla has authored over 40 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and serves as a tutor for medical residents and fellows.
