Biography

Dr. Marco Simonini is a nephrologist at the Nephrology and Dialysis Unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, led by Professor Giuseppe Vezzoli.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 2006 from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and specialized in Nephrology at the same institution in 2012. During his specialization, he spent a year as a research fellow at the Human Genetics Division of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (Philadelphia, USA).

In 2021, he obtained a Diploma from the SIUMB Specialist School in Nephrology Ultrasound.

Dr. Simonini's areas of expertise include clinical nephrology, acute and chronic renal failure, dialysis, and essential and secondary hypertension.

In research, his interests focus on the pathophysiological mechanisms of hypertension development, acute renal failure, the genetics of kidney disease progression, sepsis, and kidney injury.

He is the author and co-author of numerous publications (H-index of 13 as of November 2022). He actively participates in conferences, often as a speaker, and is a member of the Italian Society of Nephrology (SIN) and the European Renal Association (ERA-EDTA).
