Biography
Dr. Serenella Castelvecchio is a Cardiologist and Head of the Gender Medicine Program at the IRCCS Policlinico San Donato located in San Donato Milanese (Milan), Italy.
She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Tor Vergata University of Rome, where she also specialized in Cardiology. After completing her training at the Echocardiography Laboratory of the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota, USA), she began her clinical and research activities in San Donato Milanese, focusing on the study of ischemic heart disease and the surgical treatment of heart failure of ischemic origin, which are also the main themes of her research work. She is responsible for Research Line 1: "Surgical treatment of acquired heart diseases and short- and long-term outcomes."
In recent years, her attention has primarily focused on primary prevention, with particular emphasis on women's cardiovascular health and risk stratification.
She is the Principal Investigator of the CV-Prevital project at the IRCCS Policlinico San Donato, which in 2022/2023 enrolled around 1,100 individuals to assess their cardiovascular risk profile and develop personalized prevention and care strategies.
