Samuel Mancuso

Biographie

Dr. Samuel Mancuso is a cardiac surgeon at the Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Cardiac Surgery Unit of IRCCS Policlinico San Donato.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Turin in 2010 and obtained his specialization in Cardiac Surgery from the same institution in 2017. In 2020, he earned a Master's in Patient Blood Management from La Sapienza University of Rome.

During his specialization, Dr. Mancuso completed training abroad in Bloodless Cardiac Surgery at the DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center in Houston. 

His areas of interest include:

  • Minimally invasive valve surgery in adults, focusing on the mitral, aortic, and tricuspid valves
  • Myocardial revascularization using arterial grafts off-pump 

He is an expert in Patient Blood Management techniques to improve patient outcomes, particularly in bloodless medicine and surgery for patients who cannot receive transfusions due to religious, personal, or clinical reasons.

Dr. Mancuso is the author and co-author of 16 publications in the fields of minimally invasive cardiac surgery, infectious endocarditis, and bloodless cardiac surgery, with an H-index of 6. Since 2017, he has been a moderator and faculty member at numerous conferences in Italy and abroad on Patient Blood Management and bloodless protocols.

Since 2021, he has been part of the faculty for the Master's Program in Patient Blood Management at La Sapienza University of Rome.
