Dr. Roberto Santangelo is a neurologist in the Neurology Unit at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, led by Professor Massimo Filippi.

After earning his medical degree with honors and distinction in 2011 from the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, he specialized in Neurology, also with honors, in 2017. In the same year, he obtained a PhD in Molecular Medicine, specializing in Neuroscience and Experimental Neurology, which he completed with honors.

Dr. Santangelo's expertise focuses primarily on the outpatient management of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative conditions of the central nervous system, including frontotemporal dementia, Lewy body disease, and vascular dementia.

He is also involved in neurophysiological activities, interpreting electromyography (EMG) and evoked potentials (visual, auditory, somatosensory, motor), and administering botulinum toxin treatments for various neurological conditions such as spasticity in multiple sclerosis, stroke, or hereditary diseases, as well as for focal dystonias, hyperhidrosis, and chronic migraines.

His research focuses on identifying and validating new biological markers (in cerebrospinal fluid and neurophysiology) for Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. He has an H-index of 17, with over 30 publications in international journals, both as first author and co-author.
