Sabina Martinenghi
Biography
Dr. Sabina Martinenghi is the head of the Functional Unit at the General Medicine Unit specializing in Metabolic Health and Aging at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, directed by Professor Patrizia Rovere Querini.
She graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1986 from the University of Milan and specialized in Endocrinology in 1992 at the same institution.
During her training, she worked as an assistant at the Clinique de Néphrologie et Maladies Métaboliques of the University Claude Bernard in Lyon, France, where she focused on kidney and pancreas transplants. She later worked on a gene therapy project for Type 1 Diabetes at OSR Tiget. Her clinical activity mainly focuses on internal medicine, diabetes, endocrinology, and dyslipidemia.
She is also an expert in Frems treatment for pain associated with Dercum's disease. In terms of research activity, Dr. Martinenghi specializes in Type 1 Diabetes. Specifically, she follows clinical trials of immunotherapy for the prevention of Type 1 Diabetes in at-risk family members and in newly diagnosed diabetes within international networks (TrialNet, Innodia).
She is the author and co-author of more than 50 publications in specialized scientific journals. Her H index is 16. She regularly participates in national and international conferences in her field.
