Francesca Muffatti
Biografía
Dr. Francesca Muffatti is a pancreatic, general, and abdominal surgeon at the Pancreatic Surgery Unit of San Raffaele, headed by Professor Massimo Falconi.
After graduating with a degree in Medicine and Surgery with honors (110/110) from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan in 2001, she completed her specialization in General Surgery at the same university in 2017, achieving a final grade of 70/70 with honors. She subsequently won a research fellowship focused on neuroendocrine tumors.
Dr. Muffatti currently serves as a medical director in the Pancreatic and Transplant Surgery Department, where she specializes in neuroendocrine tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. She also holds a leadership role in the organization and management of multidisciplinary consultations regarding neuroendocrine neoplasms at the OSR NET CENTRE, a center of excellence.
Her clinical work focuses on the treatment of benign and malignant pancreatic conditions, as well as diseases of the duodenum and biliary tract/gallbladder, along with general surgery, including hernias and abdominal wall repair. Additionally, she has a particular interest in neuroendocrine diseases of the gastroenteropancreatic tract. She has performed over 250 surgeries as the lead surgeon, including more than 150 major pancreatic surgeries, some of which were carried out using minimally invasive techniques.
Currently, her research focuses on pancreatic diseases and neuroendocrine tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, with a specific emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.
She is a member of several scientific societies, including the Italian Society of Surgical Oncology (SICO), the Italian Society of Surgery (SIC), the Italian Association for the Study of the Pancreas (AISP), the European Pancreatic Club (EPC), the European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (ENETS), and the Italian Association for Neuroendocrine Tumors (ITANET). She is the author and co-author of numerous indexed publications, with an H-index of 19. Dr. Muffatti is a regular participant in national and international conferences in her field.
