Luca Giugno (Лука Джуньё)

Dr. Luca Giugno is a cardiologist in the Pediatric Cardiology Unit at IRCCS Policlinico San Donato in Milan.

In 2007, he graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery from the Second University of Naples, and in 2014, he specialized with honors in Cardiovascular Diseases at the same institution.

Dr. Luca Giugno is a pediatric and congenital interventional cardiologist. He focuses on the diagnosis, clinical management, and interventional treatment of congenital heart diseases from neonatal to adult age. His expertise lies in invasive diagnostics and percutaneous treatment of both simple and complex congenital heart defects, having performed over 1,000 procedures as the primary operator.

He carries out the following procedures to correct congenital heart diseases:

• Percutaneous closure of atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, and patent ductus arteriosus
• Aortic and pulmonary valvuloplasty
• Percutaneous treatment of aortic coarctation and pulmonary artery stenosis
• Percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation
• Percutaneous palliation of complex congenital heart diseases in neonates (ductal stenting, atrial septostomy via Rashkind procedure)
• Hybrid treatment of complex congenital heart diseases
• Percutaneous treatment of stenosis in systemic and pulmonary venous circulation, both congenital and post-surgical.

Dr. Giugno's scientific work is conducted in collaboration with the Computational Simulation and 3D Laboratory, focusing on the percutaneous treatment of congenital heart diseases. His main research projects involve the use of new technologies and materials to improve the success of interventional procedures.

He is the co-author of over 30 scientific publications, collaborating with leading European and American groups, and has been a co-investigator in numerous multicenter and multinational studies.

In 2013, he was awarded the Young Investigator Award by the AEPC (Association for European Paediatric and Congenital Cardiology).
