Биография

Dr. Salvatore Recupero is a pediatrician at the Pediatric Immunohematology Unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, led by Prof. Alessandro Aiuti.

He graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery in 2015 from the University of Messina. During his studies, he completed training periods at the General and Pediatric Surgery Department of Masaryk University in Brno (Czech Republic) and the Pediatric Nephrology Department at Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, USA).

He specialized with honors in Pediatrics in 2021 at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan. During his specialist training, he attended the Advanced Training School for Neonatal Emergency Transport at Gaslini Hospital in Genoa (2021) and contributed to the management of auxological issues in patients at the Pediatric Endocrinology Unit.

He has also contributed to the activities of the Youth Commission of the Italian Society of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology (SIEDP), where he continues to collaborate as an external consultant. Since 2022, he has been pursuing a second-level Master's in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Alma Mater Studiorum University in Bologna.

His clinical and research activities focus on pediatric hematology and immunology, particularly on ex-vivo gene therapy with engineered hematopoietic stem cells for metabolic, hematological, or immune system disorders.

He is also involved in the diagnostic and therapeutic management (hematopoietic stem cell transplants) of children with primary immunodeficiencies, hematological disorders, metabolic conditions, and other rare genetic diseases.
