Giovanna Weber

Professor Giovanna Weber is the pediatrician in charge of the Endocrinology Unit of the Pediatric Department and Neonatology Unit at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, directed by Dr. Graziano Barera.

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1976 with honors (110/110 cum laude), she obtained her specialization in Pediatrics in 1979 and a further specialization in Pediatrics with a focus on Neonatology in 1988.

From 1982 to 2001, she served as a confirmed University Researcher at the Pediatric Clinic III - University of Milan.

From 2001 to 2021, she held the position of First Level Medical Director and, since January 1, 2002, has been the Head of the Simple Structure in the Pediatric Endocrinology Functional Area at the Pediatric and Neonatology Unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan.

From 2001 to 2021, she was an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, specializing in General and Specialized Pediatrics (Med 38) at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan.

Her clinical and research experience, documented by publications and presentations, has focused primarily on:

• Thyroid pathology, with particular emphasis on the clinical and genetic aspects of congenital hypothyroidism and autoimmune thyroid diseases.
• Calcium-phosphorus metabolism disorders and osteoporosis.
• Growth deficits, with a particular focus on bone dysplasias and rare genetic diseases.
