Maurizio Tusa
Biografie
Dr. Maurizio Tusa is a cardiologist at the Unit of Clinical, Interventional, and Intensive Coronary Care (UTIC) at IRCCS Policlinico San Donato in Milan.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1980. In 1982, he specialized in Cardiology at the same university, and in 1985, he obtained a specialization in Respiratory Pathophysiology from the University of Pavia.
Dr. Tusa gained extensive clinical experience in various public hospitals in Milan. Since 2015, he has served as the Head of the Clinical and Interventional Echocardiography Laboratory at Policlinico San Donato.
He is an expert in advanced imaging techniques for studying coronary artery disease, particularly for conditions such as:
- Myocardial infarction
- Angina pectoris
- Valvular diseases, including mitral regurgitation, tricuspid regurgitation, and aortic stenosis.
Dr. Tusa specializes in interventional echocardiography for procedures such as:
- Closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO)
- Closure of atrial septal defects (ASD)
- Left atrial appendage occlusion
- Percutaneous repair of mitral and tricuspid valves.
He is also actively involved in clinical research focused on mitral regurgitation and PFO closure.
